Che sia antico lo attestano numerosi ritrovamenti effettuati sul colle dove si trova il piccolo paese: vi sono stati rinvenuti gruppi di tombe a camera etrusco romane (nell\u2019anno 1899), una tomba a fossa con materiali bronzei, un\u2019ascia eneolitica in diorite e quattordici fibule di bronzo a navicella. In paese si trova la <em>chiesa di San Martino<\/em>, piccolo edificio romanico ad una sola navata e senza abside terminale: nella facciata si apre un portale con architrave, lunetta ed archivolto.
